What Drives us? (Our Values)
Christ's Purposes Many things drive churches, including traditions, programs, finances, building, denomination or personalities. We value Christ’s 5 timeless purposes for the church: Worship, Fellowship, Discipleship, Service and Evangelism. Matt. 22: 37-40; Matt. 28: 19-20
Growth A disciple making church will continually encourage both spiritual growth in the life of every Christ follower, and also believe in numerical growth as the Good News is personally made known in our world. John 15: 1-16; Matt. 16:18
Unchurched people Lost people matter to God more than our personal preferences, and, particularly as we reach our community, we will do all we can to help them connect with Jesus! Mark 10:45; 1Cor. 14:22; Luke 15
Family We lead, serve, grow, worship, evangelise out of the context of our physical families, and seek to prioritise our lives in the following order: our relationship with God, spouse, children, ministry/career. 1Tim. 3:4; Gen. 2: 18, 24
Next Generation Culture is rapidly changing, and we will continually defer to the next generation, so as to be relevant as we seek to fulfil our mission among them. Pr. 27: 23-24; Ps. 71:18; Mark 10:14
Relationships The context for church, family, team ministry, evangelism, life is healthy relationships. We’re not a business/organisation but rather a family/organism. Matt. 22:37-40; Eph. 2:19; John 15:15
Simplicity In how we structure the church, communicate God’s word, model ministry, etc.. Pr. 3:21; Luke 11:46; 1 Cor. 3:14
Servant Leadership We are called to lead by serving others following the example of Jesus, who didn’t come to be served but to serve, and, in the final discourse with his disciples, picked up a basin and towel to wash their feet. Under the leadership of Jesus as servant leaders in His church, we will continually review, change/ restructure, where necessa,ry in order to fulfil our mission. Matt. 26:42; John 13: 5 |
