LIVING HOPE COMMUNITY CHURCH
CHILD PROTECTION POLICY
The church has a growing ministry amongst children and young people, and takes seriously its responsibilities to protect and safeguard the welfare of children and young people entrusted to its care.
The church is committed to:
Listening to, relating effectively and valuing children and young people whilst ensuring their protection within church activities.
Encouraging and supporting parents/carers.
Ensuring that teachers and leaders of children and young people are given support and training.
Having a system for dealing with concerns about possible abuse.
Maintaining good links with statutory child care authorities.
The church recognises that some children and young people are the victims of neglect or of physical, sexual or emotional abuse. Accordingly, the church has adopted the policy which sets out agreed guidelines relating to the following areas:
Responding to allegations of abuse including any made against leaders, members or attendees of the church.
Appointment of those working or assisting with children or young people.
Supervision of activities and practice issues.
Helping any known victims of abuse, if feasible.
The church recognises the need to liaise with Social Services and accordingly these guidelines have been prepared in consultation with members of the DHSS which holds a copy of the church’s policy and guidelines.
