Read Ephesians 6:1-20.
After our dear friends tearfully handed over their precious toddler to the surgical team, we made our way without delay to the hospital chapel. Cocooned in a small room we began an 8 hour prayer and worship vigil. Waves of fear and tears came and went, interspersed with waves of joy, praise and surrender to our Father God as we interceded on behalf of this little girl and her desperate Jesus-dependent parents. An extraordinarily beautiful thing happened as we toiled in prayer throughout that long day: a flood of voice message prayers, Scriptures, prophetic words and pictures came to the parents' phones from saints all around the world, quite visibly strengthening them and filling them with joy and hope. The Holy Spirit filled that chapel and mobilised the prayers of dozens of interceding saints to give this couple courage to keep praying and trusting their Lord. God graciously and skilfully guided the team of surgeons....praise God! The little one sailed through the risks beautifully.
What a privilege it was for us to observe so tangibly how utterly necessary it is to help one another in Christ to fight our battles with faith by "keeping alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints." The truth is that I desperately need your prayers on my behalf and you need mine. There are depths of joy and miracles to be encountered as we stand together in prayer for one another. This is God's beautiful design: a family that is mutually dependent on each other.
