Psalm 100 // Day 7 - Goodness, Love & Faithfulness

KEY VERSE:

For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.

Ps 100:5

In this psalm, we have seen six calls or exhortations (what we are being called to do):

  1. Shout to the Lord (v1)
  2. Worship / Serve with gladness (v2)
  3. Come before Him with singing (v2)
  4. Know that the Lord is God (v3)
  5. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise (v4)
  6. Give thanks and praise. (v4)

We have also seen six causes or explanations (why we should carry out these commands).

1. He made us. (Who we are in Him (v3)

2. We are His people. (Who we are in Him (v3)

3. We are His sheep. (Who we are in Him (v3)

1. The Lord is Good. (Who He is (v6)

2. His love is everlasting. (Who He is (v6)

3. His faithfulness continues to all generations. (Who He is (v6)

On day four, we looked at who we are in Him and the reassurance and reason that gives us to shout and worship and serve the Lord with gladness. Today, we turn our attention towards verse five which tells us why we give thanks and praise and it’s all to do with who He is.

Our praise is not dependent on our circumstances or our feelings, it is ALL ABOUT HIM. He is good and His love and faithfulness last forever! Our moods will change. Our circumstances will change. We will have good days, bad days, hard times, blessed times but His goodness, love and faithfulness never change. This is the consistent and steadfast nature and character of God – goodness, love and faithfulness. This is why we can praise Him in the good times and in the bad! This is why we can sing in the middle of the storm!!

There are over 3000 promises in the bible. For every circumstance you face, God has a promise and we know that this loving, good God is faithful to keep those promises.

  • Do you feel like your life has stalled? Are you struggling to find meaning and purpose? He promises to finish what He has started (Philippians 1:6) so PRAISE HIM!
  • Do you feel alone? He promises to never leave you (Hebrews 13:5) so PRAISE HIM!
  • Do you feel anxious or fearful? He promises to give you His peace (Philippians 4:7) so PRAISE HIM!
  • Do your circumstances look bleak?  He has promised to work everything together for the good of those who love Him (Romans 8:28) so PRAISE HIM!

Do you believe God is good, loving and faithful? If so, PRAISE HIM!

ACTION STEPS
