FAQ:

What is the Year of Your Life internship programme?

Year of Your Life is a one year full time programme based in the local church and aimed at committed Christians aged 18 years plus who are enthusiastic about following and modelling Jesus in their everyday lives, whilst walking alongside the youth in our church family.

Who are we and where are we based?

At Living Hope Church we are passionate about building healthy local churches to fulfil the great commission. Part of our vision is to encourage student interns to mature in their relationship with Jesus, to disciple our youth to build their own relationship with Jesus on healthy foundations and to grow in love for the local church as they serve her wholeheartedly. We are based on the Isle of Man as 8 congregations worshipping in local communities across the island. Each intern lives with a host family and is based in a local hub as part of the youthwork team, whilst also working into the life of the wider church through specific streams - multimedia, worship, administration and event management. We are part of an apostolic family of churches, known as Four12 – a dynamic partnership of churches across the globe working together to Equip, Restore and Advance the local church. Throughout the year all interns will be exposed to the leaders, ministries and opportunities at the heart of this movement.

What does the year look like?

The programme is 11 months long with some scheduled and some flexible breaks. There are two intakes – September and January to accommodate local and international students. The year starts with a residential induction time and includes our international youth festival in August, VIBE FEST. The internship programme has five key components – youthwork, leadership, mission, theological study and church based ministry – all of which combine to build a strong grounding in faith, expose and develop spiritual gifts, and clarify passions and purpose. The streams of interest will be taught and practiced locally, as well as across the multiple congregations. Each intern is allocated a mentor and pastoral care is based within lifegroups. A working week is approximately 40 hours stretching across 6 days, including regular team time with the pastors and other staff.

Who can apply?

If you are aged 18 years plus, a committed Christian and would enjoy a vibrant year as part of a multinational church family within a team of international students and staff then you are eligible to apply to be a Year of Your Life intern. It is essential that you are fluent in spoken and written English, have a recommendation from your local church leader, and the support of both your family and your church family.

What costs are involved?

We want to partner with you to make this year accessible financially. We will provide accommodation and cover the cost of some inhouse expenses. You are required to have your own laptop capable of hosting an office package, fund your own travel to and from the Isle of Man, cover the cost of visas and demonstrate £3,500 in the bank or in sponsorship. This money will cover the cost of your everyday needs including mobile phone contract, local bus travel and personal expenses across the year.
